Ellen Mueller

Ellen Mueller has exhibited nationally and internationally as an interdisciplinary artist exploring issues related to the environment, hyperactive news media, and corporate management systems. She received her MFA from the University of South Florida. Selected artist residencies include Ox-Bow, Ucross Foundation, Nes Artist Residency (Iceland), VCCA, Signal Culture, Playa, Bunker Projects, and Künstlerhaus Lukas (Germany). Mueller has also published Elements and Principles of 4D Art and Design with Oxford University Press, Remixing and Drawing: Sources, Influence, Styles with Routledge, and Some Social Practice via Creative Commons licensing.

To celebrate the launch of her book, Walking as Artistic Practice, she will be hosting a number of talks and workshops featuring topics and exercises from the book. Join author Ellen Mueller to try out an exercise from the forthcoming book, Walking as Artistic Practice. This exercise, entitled “Signage” will invite participants to observe and record using phone photography on a group collaborative walk.

Schuerman’s work, Precinct Perimeter (2020), is included in the forthcoming Walking as Artistic Practice book. Join Mueller and Schuerman for discussion of his work, the forthcoming book, and to try out an exercise from the book, “Walk Your Block or Perimeter.” Bring a sketchbook and writing utensil, or we’ll provide blank zines as an option for recording your observations.
